Who We Are
Passion for biking and snowboarding brought both Eric Stonehouse and Paul Kerfoot to Canmore several years ago. We found a thriving bike scene and close knit riding community. After riding and working together for several years, with over 10 years mechanical and retail experience between us (in Canmore but also in Australia and New Zealand), Rad Bike was born. As of April 2011, we will be the head mechanics at a new bike and ski shop in Canmore. Outside Bike and Ski Ltd has opened its doors and will offer a huge selection of product for both the summer and winter enthusiast. Â Rocky Mountain, Norco, Opus and BMC will be the predominant bike brands available along with an endless supply of parts and accessories. Fox, Gore and Pearl Izumi clothing will also be well represented.
In recent years we have expanded our interests into the world of endurance racing, attending as freelance mechanics to some of the best stage races in the world. These include:
- BC Bike Race 2010
- Transrockies 2007/2010
- 24 Hours of Adrenalin 2009/2010
These events attract riders from all over the world and while they can be both mentally and physically draining they have proven to be a highly concentrated learning experience for us. Nowhere else will you see that many bikes and problems in such a short amount of time!
Paul Kerfoot, originally from Winnipeg moved to Canmore in early 2002. His passion for both biking and snowboarding soon took over and in 2004 he attended United Bicycle Institute in Ashland, Oregon. The skills he picked up during this time eventually led him to a senior mechanics position at Couloir Ski and Bike.
Eric Stonehouse, moved to Canada from Melbourne, Australia in early 2004 initially to follow the snow season. A strong interest in biking kept him here for the summer which eventually lead to a full time position at Couloir Ski and Bike as a bike mechanic.
At Rad Bike we build, service, repair bikes of all kinds. Regular servicing is key to having an incident free riding year and we like to focus on keeping the customer informed on what work we have done and what they can do at home to help. While primarily we work on mid to high end cross country,downhill and road bikes we will never turn away your ride if we believe it can be fixed.

- Full suspension repairs ( RockShox, Fox, Marzocchi, Manitou, Cannondale)
- Linkage repairs ( Bearing replacement, rebuilds)
- Pre and post race bike rebuilds ( Full tear down of bike to ensure maximum performance for the big event)
- Custom wheel builds ( Choose a hub, rim and spoke and we will build it)
- General maintenance ( wheel true, brake bleeds, shifting issues etc)
- Parts install ( Headsets, brake pads, drivetrain etc)
- Suspension set up and custom fitting
- Consultation and custom bike builds
We like to talk about bikes. Customers are always welcome to ask us any questions about new products, upgrades, bike builds and we will happily to give you our opinions. We can always offer our recommendations, help you source and purchase parts, install and set up your upgrades, all the way up to a full spec, design, source and build of your dream bike.
