In early August, Radbike was invited along with several other freelance mechanics to work the Transrockies mountain bike race, a 7 stage event starting in Fernie BC and finishing downtown Canmore AB. Almost 600 kms of gruelling singletrack, long climbs and epic descents and for the 2010 challenge, some horrible weather! We experienced every type of precipitation there is, from light, consistent rain to torrential down pours to hail and even snow during some of the higher alpine passes. It was not only a huge challenge for those competing but for all the mechanics and volunteers who ended up with more work than they could of ever imagined. It definitely lived up to its reputation as one of the hardest multi stage races in the world. We both had any extremely busy week with little sleep but it was worth it. A lot of fun and a great learning experience. Looking forward to 2011!
