Although wheel companies offer a huge array of pre-built cross country, all mountain and downhill wheels to the public, a “custom built” wheel set is still a sort after commodity among riders around the world. Both Paul and I have been riding hand built wheels on our downhill rigs  for the past few seasons, so this year I thought I would build a set for my trail shredder.
The hubs I will be using come from Chris King Components, a small parts specialist out of Portland, Oregon. Many will agree that Chris King hubs are the best hub available on the market today. There precise machining, powerful engagement (72 teeth!) Â and amazing durability make them a dream to work with and to ride.
I will be running a set of Mavic 819 rims to match up to these hubs. Mavics tubeless rim is strong and relatively light weight making it an ideal set up for the areas rough trails. Keep posted for the build…coming soon!!!
Spent a couple hours in the sun this week lacing my hoops up with DT Swiss Competition spokes and brass nipples.
Great way to spend a morning!!
